Just a fortnight remains until cars hit the track for the long-awaited return of the coveted Wakefield 300 endurance race at One Raceway, and the most successful driver in the event’s history is set for a sensational comeback.
Jake Shelley - son of One Raceway owner Steve Shelley - is a three-time winner of the event; as well as sharing a Lotus Elise to victory alongside his father in 2015, he also won the 2012 and 2013 events, driving a Mitsubishi Evo alongside Michael Shaw on both occasions. However, Shelley has not contested the race since 2017.
Other former winners on the grid include the effective defending winners Daniel Kapetanovic/Adam Thompson (who won the last edition of the race in 2022), 2021 winner Todd Herring (who will race with his son Jett in a Mazda MX5) and Greg Boyle. However, the Mazda 3 Boyle will share with Matthew Southwell is unlikely to be of the same outright performance as the Mazda RX7 in which he won the 2019 race with Brendan Scotter.
The full entry list for the 2025 Wakefield 300 will be announced next week, ahead of the event on 16-17 August.
