1R Skid Pan Events
1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan events allow you to explore your vehicle’s handling characteristics in a safe, controlled environment.
At a 1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan event, you will learn:
How to slide your car on a low-grip surface
The difference between understeer and oversteer, and how to correct each type of skid.
Experiencing your vehicle’s active safety systems, such as ABS and stability control, and understanding how they work to enable you to maintain control.
Other advanced car control techniques to enable you to improve your skills.
Skid Pan Events
Vehicle Eligibility
- Rear-wheel-drive cars are recommended (but not essential).
- Vehicles must comply with a noise limit of 95dB at 30m.
- Vehicles do not need to be road-registered.
Driver Requirements
- Drivers must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
- Drivers are not required to hold a road licence.
- Passengers are not permitted at skid pan events; instructors will be on hand at skid pan events to sit in the passenger's seat of vehicles.
Other Requirements
- All drivers must wear enclosed footwear.
- Helmets are not required for skid pan events.
