1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan events allow you to explore your vehicle’s handling characteristics in a safe, controlled environment.
At a 1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan event, you will learn:
How to slide your car on a low-grip surface
The difference between understeer and oversteer, and how to correct each type of skid.
Experiencing your vehicle’s active safety systems, such as ABS and stability control, and understanding how they work to enable you to maintain control.
Other advanced car control techniques to enable you to improve your skills.
1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan events are held on One Raceway’s 9,100 square metre concrete skid pan, complete with a sprinkler system to keep the surface wet and allow you to slide your vehicle at low speeds.
Entries for 1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan events are capped at a maximum of 16 cars, allowing all participants ample time on the skid pan.
Skid Pan events - key information
Rear-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended (but not essential) for Skid Pan events.
Vehicles must comply with a noise limit of 95dB at 30 metres.
Drivers must be a minimum of 14 years of age, but are not required to hold a current driver’s licence.
Passengers for Skid Pan events are not permitted; instructors will be on hand at the event to sit in the passengers’ seats of participants’ vehicles.
The fee for a 1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan event is $249.00 for approximately 3.5 hours; there will be two sessions - a morning session and and afternoon session.

Eligibility
All roadworthy vehicles are eligible for 1R/Fifth Gear Skid Pan events.
